Project 31- Day 1

First of all, I want to start with this:

I get married FOUR months from today!!
This time last year, kendall had just bought my ring and
had to wait another month to propose. sighh...lovely day. :)
(i'm really, really excited for may 21!!!)

Day 1: What does beauty mean to you?

Proverbs 31:30 says that beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. 1 Peter 3: 3-5 says Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— 4 rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 5 For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands.

Every time I read these verses,
I am so convicted, but they speak to me each time.
It is the woman I strive to be.

Sometimes A lot of times I am worried more about outward appearance than I am about my inward beauty. Outward beauty is fleeting and temporary. It is the kingdom that is lasting. Beauty to me, is chasing after the things of God and being concerned with what is on Father's heart. To me it is a women who knows when to speak and when to hold her tongue (a woman who doesn't gossip). Beauty is a woman who dies to herself daily to help those around her be it strangers, her children, her husband, family, etc. Beauty is a gentle and humble spirit. Beauty is quiet strength. It is when loving others becomes first priority and living in such a way that others see it. In a world that woman empowerment is so emphasized, I still believe that beauty is submitting to your husband. I believe this because women need to build their husbands up and I believe trust is one of the best ways. Beauty is fearing the Lord. Beauty is self-discipline.

Beauty is striving to become such things
so that we may become holy as Father is holy.
(1 Peter 1:16)
