If you follow me on instagram (BreanneJohnson), you would know that I have been posting healthy, clean eating photos of food pretty often.
(if you don't feel like reading all of this but your curious to see what i'm doing you can just scroll down to the ****)
Healthy and Wholesome eating has become a huge part of my life the past few months. I wish I could say I have conquered my addictions to sugar and unhealthy relationship with food but I haven't quite gotten there...yet.
It is a huge part of my life in that I feel convicted about the way I treat and see food. If you have read my blog for a while, it is obvious that its something I have been struggling with for a while. I am happy to say that I feel I have overcome many of my self-image issues but still feel there is work to be done. I finally feel like I'm in a position where my priority of eating healthy isn't just for losing weight, but to actually care about what I am putting into my body to make it run. The past few months i have had so many experimental periods with trial and error.
Today, I woke up feeling inspired, encouraged, and more than ready to make a change. I had no plan of what I would be eating today but I knew I would be making beneficial food choices and just stop unhealthy eating cold turkey.
I chose raw fruits and veggies, some butternut squash soup, green tea, and ended the day with some tuna and spinach. Nothing terribly exciting, but I'm ending the day feeling great (read not bloated). ;) I am slowly cutting out caffeine, but it is pretty difficult, I mean I work at Starbucks for goodness sake. I had an iced americano today with no dairy and will hopefully just have coffee tomorrow and green tea tomorrow. I would like to get to just green tea, coffee gives me really bad heartburn, really bad.
I've searched all over the internet for plans and shopping lists for cleanses, challenges, etc. I haven't found one that suits me, so I am making my own and sharing it with you. Expect the next few weeks to be about my journey to healthy eating. I feel like keeping my blog updated will help keep me accountable because I can't find anyone who really wants to take this journey with me.
The next 30 days I am committing myself to wholesome living. Not only with my food choices, but my relationship with the Lord. I know I can't do this on my own so I will be seeking Him out more than I normally do. I guess in a way, it is a fast too as I hope to grow closer to Father's heart.
This will be my experiment of how to plan meals properly so that I'm not wasting food, shop on a budget while eating healthy, cooking for two people, and plan shopping trips.
I will not be eating:
-sugar, artificial sweeteners, fructose, etc. (no natural sweeteners the first week or two, but I will allow them later)
-No Grains, no gluten
-No Carrageenan, MSG, or sulfites
-No processed foods
I will be eating or drinking:
-Vegetables, lots and lots of greens!
-Quinoa (as my only grain)
-Lots of water
This journey is going to be difficult and challenging, yet exciting and refreshing. :)
