Happy October, Friends!
It's hard to believe this time of the year has come. 2013 is flying by, but it has been a great year so far!
Without a change in weather here, it feels like I'm stuck in the month of July.
If I was in the States, I'd be looking forward to cooler weather, brown leather boots, scarves, and pumpkin everything. However, it is only getting hotter here (we're south of the equator), I'm enjoying my favorite tropical fruits, but I'm still rocking some boots, mud boots that is.
But please, enjoy a pumpkin spice latte for me. :)
This is our last full month here in the Amazon for 2013 and I can't quite wrap my mind around it.
It feels like we just got here, yet I also feel like its been so long since I've seen my
family and friends in the States.
I finally feel like I've gotten a hang of living here, yet we won't be spending much more
time in the little city we've been acquainted with the past 4 months.
In this little stage of life, we are constantly moving.
friends from home seeing us off to the airport. looking forward to spending time with them again.
I miss these beautiful ladies.
We aren't staying in the same place for long and it has taught me to live a life that is productive.
What I mean by that is to make the most out of the time you have. Here's a few things I've learned in this season:
Make relationships quickly.
Love, with no reservations.
Hold your tongue and give advice with wisdom.
Share the Gospel with urgency.
Pray for people.
Make time for community, even with a busy schedule.
Take care of yourself by eating healthy & exercising.
Put down the phone, turn off the internet, and engage in
face-to-face conversation (even if you don't know the language).
Get out there and learn, even though it may come with failure, embarrassment, and a little frustration.
Of course, I've learned much more than this, but these are just a few things.
I want to carry these with me with our time in Iquitos and then the 2 months we will spend in the States.
The past 10 days have been good for my heart and soul.
A lot of time reading the word, journaling, and dreaming.
I can't wait to share more.
This was supposed to be posted yesterday, but alas, the internet cut out before I was
able to press the publish button. Such is life in the Amazon. So, there may be another post today.
